The Franchimont castle was built on a rocky outcrop dominating three valleys north of the Ardennes, at about 8 km from Spa

The current relics bear a spectacular witness to the mediaeval rampart that was adapted at the beginning of modern times. Interactive visits with audioguides will take you through its impressive history.

The 11-12th century castle constitutes the centre of the fortress, which is encircled by a large wall with artillery dating back to the early 15th century.

The castle is a rare example of the evolution of defence systems during the Renaissance, with its casemates and subterranean stairs as one of the biggest attractions.

The visit to this romantic corner ends "Beyond the Castle", where you will find a tavern, small restaurant, drinks for pic-nics, shady terrace with a view of the castle.
