THE HYDRAULIC LIFTS OF THE HISTORIC CANAL DU CENTRE

Embark on a journey on the Historic Canal of the Centre. Crossing of the hydraulic lift(s) listed as World Heritage by UNESCO. In the past, each of these four elevators were built in order to bridge a height difference of 17 m, and this with only one energy source: water!

The oldest building of the site, the hydraulic lift n°1 welcomes you for the exhibition "The fabulous machine of engineer Clarck": you will learn more about the history and the functioning of the lifts by means of original documents (maps, plans, etc), as well as modern and interactive media.

Two departures by day: 10 am and 2 pm. Tickets to be bought 1/2h before the departure.
Make sure to reserve in advance.
